What it does
A solid balm that melts on contact with the lips. Beef tallow and beeswax form a thin barrier that keeps moisture in. Jojoba and almond oil add fatty acids similar to the skin's own. Castor oil gives a light shine without a sticky feel.
Lysine is an amino acid — one of the building blocks of collagen. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects against oxidation. Glycerin draws moisture from the air.
None of the ingredients are there as filler. Every substance does something.
Why not petroleum jelly
Petroleum jelly is a by-product of oil refining. It lays down a film that neither adds nor removes anything. It keeps moisture in — but only the moisture that's already there. If the lips are dry, the dryness is sealed in.
Beef tallow and beeswax do the same — but with fatty acids that are actually absorbed. The difference is that here the barrier also nourishes.
Directions
Apply directly to the lips. The balm melts on skin contact — you don't need to rub.
Use as needed. Good as a night balm — apply before bed and let the barrier work overnight.
